Former UFC Welterweight champion, Matt Serra is talking about his rematch with his fellow "Ultimate Fighter" season four cast mate, Chris Lytle at UFC 119 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Speaking via ESPN.com, Serra said:

“Last time it was two guys fighting not to lose, and this time it’s two guys looking to take each other out. And I’ll tell you something: Not only is he fighting in a rematch in a fight where he lost a very close decision with a lot on the line, but he’s fighting in his hometown, in front of everybody he’s ever known from his family on. He’s going to want to make a statement … You know, we’re both durable veterans that are well-rounded. We’re both not easy to get out of there. I know he’s thinking the same thing as me, if he’s able to take me out, that’ll say something. And I’ll tell you right now, there’s nothing I want more, either … To me, it’s all about the journey. The glass is always half full for me. Life is short and so am I.”

Serra is coming off a first round victory over Frank Trigg at UFC 109 in February. Prior to that Serra suffered back-to-back losses at the hands of Matt Hughes and Georges St-Pierre.

Wheat ales originated near Brussels, a wheat growing region in the 14th century. The style got its name from its lighter color and cloudiness or veil, the result of suspended wheat proteins in the beer. These crisp ales were often brewed wit coriander, juniper berries, and orange peel. We decided to use lemon zest and grains of paradise, to give our Samuel Adams Summer Ale its unique flavor. Grains of paradise, also known as Malguita Pepper, are more closely related to cardamon than pepper and according to medieval legend were thought to have aphrodisiac properties.

*According to the Archives Mailbag of the Sporting News, the phrase is borrowed from the card game bridge. The third and final game in bridge is called the "rubber game." A set of three games is also called a "rubber."

In baseball, however, a "rubber game" doesn't necessarily refer to the third game of a tied series, but the last and deciding game of any series. The seventh game of the World Series, for example, is a classic rubber game.

Alas, this doesn't get us much closer to the true origin of the phrase. Evan Morris' Word Detective digs a little deeper and finds that the phrase comes from the old English game of "bowls," or lawn bowling and dates from the 16th century.

But why "rubber"? All the WordWizard can do is offer the term's Oxford English Dictionary entry. The American Heritage Dictionary tosses up an "Origin unknown." Mr. Morris suggests that it may refer to the loser's hopes being "rubbed out." No one is sure.

It's also the final day of our Kona Brewing Co. bar game triathlon so someone will be going home with the Sector 9 longboard. The five best participants from each week are invited to participate in the finals. We will allow each participant three opportunities to compete. Whomever has the best score at the end of the competition will win the Skateboard. However, because if a weak turnout last week, we still need 5 more competitors. If you haven’t qualified for the finals, come out anyway to earn a spot in the finals. The competition will begin at 6:00, Kona brews will be on special for $2.50 Mugs and $13.00 Pitchers.

Each week we take the top five scores and invite them to move on to the finals on Wed. 3.17.10 (St. Patrick’s Day). The winner of the final competition will win a Kona Longboard skateboard.
